Yeismel Grandal: Drummer and percussionist. Born on November 27 in the city of Havana, Cuba. It is at the age of 10 years when he began his music studies with several private teachers, among them Jose Luis Quintana (Changuito). From a very early age he integrates several youth groups as drummer and percussionist. In the year 2000 he traveled to Mexico to record with several artists of the company Universal Music, who in turn invited him to the promotional tours. His great talent and versatility not only allow him to master Latin genres, where he is recognized for his groove and dominance of the drum set with timpani, but also Jazz, Funk and Pop are his forte. He holds a degree from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music and Trinity College London. He has been a member of groups such as “Cuarenta Grados” with whom he accompanied artists such as Amaury Gutiérrez, David Torres and Francisco Céspedes; and of the Latin jazz quintet “Menduvía” by the pianist Osmany Paredes, with whom he participated in various jazz festivals in the country. He has also been a part of the music bands of several songwriters, among them Alexander Acha, Pee We, Guadalupe Pineda, Alex Ubago, Jorge Villamizar and Lena Burke, Ha-Ash, Rocio Banquells, La Maldita Vecindad, Manolín el Doctor de la Salsa, Orlando Valle (Maraca), Lázaro Valdés and Bamboleo, Carlos Manuel, Tania Pantoja, Haila Maria Mompié, Albita Rodriguez, Lucy Grau, Laritza Bacallao, Los Socios del Ritmo, Luis Felipe González, Alquimia la Sonora of XXI with whom he accompanied Gilberto Santa Rosa, Oscar de León, Johnny Ventura among others. In recent years he has combined his career as an instrumentalist with teaching and musical production, has taught clinics in Drums and Percussions in different universities and jazz festivals, as well as directed theatrical work In the Heights in Mexico City . He is currently based in the city of Miami, is director of the Formando Adoradores ministry and is a musician for Emily Estefan and Roberto Torres.
